Educate. Empower. Support.
WC DIGS manages a group of five dedicated and knowledgable garden instructors who work with principals and teachers at specific school sites in the West Contra Costa school district. The mentors coordinate teachers and volunteers to build a functioning school garden. They share their expertise in garden planning, planting and harvesting and work on specific goals defined by each school. Mentors draw on their resources to help with ordering soil and supplies and partner with Boy Scout Troops who help build garden boxes and do some heavy lifting.

When budget planning, principals at the district schools set aside funds to pay for the mentors for their school garden programs. If you are interested in our mentor program for your school, please contact us wcdigsinfo@gmail.com.
