The new Harding Edible Garden Program was created through the efforts and collaboration of the parents, principal, teachers and whole school community. This PTA funded initiative which includes a school garden coordinator officially began in October of 2013 and includes both garden lessons for individual grade level classes, and a lunch time open garden option 3 days a week. The garden has two main areas, both with raised beds that were funded and built through the previous hard work of parent and school organizations. The redwood box garden is by the kindergarten play area, and has 10 beds and a new worm bin. By the blacktop is a second space with 8 concrete beds. Some future plans for the program include a composting system and revamped native plant/pollinator garden.
